In Koh Kood island, the best beach for me was Ao Phrao. But to be honest, I haven't been to Soneva Kiri.
The best thing about Ko Kood is that it has great tropical beaches (comparable to those in Maldives), but not overcrowded - unlike all other Thai islands with good beaches. The main reason for it is that Ko Kood has no night life (except for bar at Klong Chao), and transportation is complicated.
